Jude Law Tapped To Play Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts

Pottermore made a HUGE casting announcement today. Jude Law has been tapped to play Albus Dumbledore in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts sequel. Law will be the third actor to bring the beloved Hogwarts headmaster to life, however, he'll obviously be playing a much younger iteration of Dumbledore. According to Pottermore, the next Fantastic Beasts movie will show Dumbledore during his days a Transfiguration teacher at Hogwarts. Director David Yates opened up about Law's casting:

Jude Law is a phenomenally talented actor whose work I’ve long admired and I’m looking forward to finally having the opportunity to work with him. I know he will brilliantly capture all the unexpected facets of Albus Dumbledore as J.K. Rowling reveals this very different time in his life.

Law will act opposite Johnny Depp's Gellert Grindelwald, who Potter fans know as Dumbledore' greatest nemesis. The Fantastic Beasts sequel will reportedly follow the twist ending of the first film in the franchise, in which (spoiler alert!) Grindelwald is captured in New York City thanks to Newt Scamander and sent off to wizard prison.

We're excited to see this iconic character back on screen again, as well as exploring the much hinted at romantic relationship between Grindelwald and Dumbledore. What do you think of this casting news?
